New: Document Assembly

Council lodgement forms and precedents, assembled on your machine.

The Open Matter Plans Network now hosts the documents a matter actually produces - starting with the council lodgement forms Australian conveyancers file every day. Each form carries its current version, a map to your matter data, and exact lodgement instructions. The form fills inside your own practice management system, so your client's details never leave your office.

New South Wales and the rest of the country are next, followed by court forms and family law documents. The order we build in is shaped by the practitioners who use this.

How It Works

Step 1

Pull the current form

We host the verified, version-tracked form for each council and keep it current as the council changes it.

Step 2

Assemble it locally

Your matter data fills the form inside your own practice management system. Nothing about your client is sent to us.

Step 3

Lodge it

Each form carries its exact lodgement method and address - email, portal, or post - resolved for you.

About Document Assembly

Conveyancing runs on forms. Practitioners order property searches, request certificates, and lodge notices with the local council that holds the records for a property - and every council does it differently, with its own forms, fields, and lodgement channel. The Open Matter Plans Network gathers those council lodgement forms into one place, keeps each one current, and maps every field to the matter data your practice management system already holds.

Document assembly is the companion to our Queensland property matter plans. The matter plan tells you how to run the conveyance; the document layer produces the paperwork it needs. Both are built to plug into your systems - browse them here, or integrate the catalogue directly through the document assembly API.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is document assembly on the Open Matter Plans Network?

Document assembly is the layer that turns council lodgement forms and legal precedents into structured, ready-to-fill templates. Each form carries the current version, a field map to your matter data, and exact lodgement instructions. Your practice management system fills the form on your own machine, so client data never leaves your office.

Which council forms are available right now?

We are launching with Queensland local councils and their property search and certificate forms. 7 councils are live with 7 lodgement forms, and more councils and form types are being added in waves.

How do the forms stay current?

A change-monitoring pipeline watches the upstream source for every form we host. When a council changes a form, we detect it, classify whether the change is cosmetic or structural, and refresh the template - so the version you assemble against is the version the council expects to receive.

Can I integrate document assembly into my practice management system?

Yes. The catalogue is exposed via a structured API: list councils, fetch the latest form metadata and lodgement details, download the template, and pull the canonical conveyancing field vocabulary. See the API documentation to integrate it into your PMS.
