Rates Request Form

Every Queensland council must keep a land record for each parcel of rateable land, showing the owner's name and postal address, the land's description, valuation and the rates and charges levied, including any overdue amounts and interest (Local Government Regulation 2012 s 154). Overdue rates and charges are a charge on the land (Local Government Act 2009 s 95), which is why a buyer checks the rates position before settlement. Quilpie's one-page form asks for applicant and property details and offers a rates search or a rates search with a 24 hour reply. The form carries council's disclaimer that the information comes from council records, which may not reflect the actual state of the property, and that people making financial or legal decisions should get their own professional advice.

   Give your name, postal address, phone and email, then sign and date. Completed searches are emailed to the address you supply.

   Enter the property address, the real property description (lot and plan), the purchaser, vendor and settlement date, and any other information council needs.

   Tick the standard rates search or the 24 hour reply option.

• The form does not say where to send it or how to pay. Call council's customer service centre on (07) 4656 0500 before lodging.
• Fees are printed on the form. The version at this link is the 2020-21 form; council's rates page now links a 2023-2024 version with different fees, so use the version council currently links and confirm the fee with council.

• Check you have the form council currently links from its rates page, not an older copy.
• Give a correct email address. Council emails the completed search.
