What the Application for Drainage Diagram and Sewer Reference is for

Wingecarribee Shire Council issues two related records. A drainage diagram shows the drainage plumbing inside the property boundary; a sewer reference sheet maps the council's water and sewer assets outside the boundary in relation to the property. Neither covers stormwater. The NSW Government's selling guide lists a drainage diagram among the documents a contract for the sale of land must contain. The council now takes these applications through its online eServices portal; this PDF is version 1.5 (2020).

When you need it

  • You are selling a property in Wingecarribee Shire and the contract needs a drainage diagram.
  • You need to know where the council's water and sewer assets are in relation to the property.

How to fill it in

  1. 1

    Application type

Tick drainage diagram only, sewer reference sheet only, or both combined. The fee is a search fee, payable whether or not a drainage diagram exists.

  2. 2

    Applicant details

Give the applicant's name, contact name, postal address, business and mobile phone and email.

  3. 3

    Property details

Give the property number, lots, section, DP or SP, street number and name, locality and the owners' names.

  4. 4

    Owner's consent

All property owners must sign. Under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 the council must collect personal information from the person it is about unless that person authorises otherwise.

  5. 5

    Payment method

Tick over the phone (customer service calls you to take a credit card payment, the preferred option), by mail (attach a cheque or money order), or in person at the Civic Centre, 68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale (credit card, EFTPOS, cheque, money order or cash).

Filing, lodging and service

  • The council's current process is online: use its eServices platform to apply for a drainage diagram and/or sewer reference sheet. The diagram is sent to the email address you give.
  • The council says the Fasttrack service printed on this PDF is not available for drainage diagrams and sewer reference sheets.
  • Contact the council on 1300 680 888 or mail@wsc.nsw.gov.au, or visit the Civic Centre, 68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale. Check the current fees before applying.

Common mistakes

  • The council cannot refund applications with incorrect details, duplicates or a change of mind, so check the lot and DP or SP number first.
  • Page 2 of this PDF has a consent wording about a Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) certificate inspection that does not match this application; ask the council if you are unsure what you are agreeing to.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a drainage diagram and a sewer reference sheet?

A drainage diagram shows drainage plumbing inside the property boundary. A sewer reference sheet shows the council's water and sewer assets outside the boundary. Neither shows stormwater.

Why is a drainage diagram needed when selling?

The NSW Government's selling guide lists a drainage diagram among the documents that must be in a contract for the sale of land, so it is ordered from the council when the contract is being prepared. The guide says the contract must be prepared before the property is advertised for sale.
