Application to Note Change/Correction of Address

The address recorded on a South Australian certificate of title is where notices go, so Land Services SA advises owners to update it when their residential, postal or company address changes; otherwise notices such as council rates and water bills keep going to the old address. Form CA is the Registrar-General's form for noting a change or correction of address. The Registrar-General can correct errors and update information recorded in the Register Book and on certificates (Real Property Act 1886 (SA) s 220(f)). The same form is used for a freehold or Crown lease title (prefix CA) and for a subsidiary interest such as a lease (prefix CA2). Land Services SA says no fee is charged.

When you need it

• You have moved, or your postal address has changed, since buying the property, for example because it is now an investment property.
• The address shown on your title is wrong.
• A company proprietor's registered or postal address has changed.

   Lodged by and correction to

   On the first page, complete the 'Lodged by' and 'Correction to' fields with the name and address of the person who should get the form back if Land Services SA issues a requisition.

   Land description and estate

   Describe the land, for example 'Whole of the land in CT Volume ... Folio ...'. For estate and interest insert 'FEE SIMPLE' or 'CROWN LESSEE' as applicable.

   Applicant and new address

   Give the applicant's full name (and ACN for a company) and the current address to be recorded.

   Execution

   Date the form. A natural person signs their usual signature before a witness aged 18 or over who is not a party and who knows them or has checked their identity; the witness prints their name, address and business hours phone number (s 267). A company may sign without a seal by two directors, a director and secretary, or a sole director who is also secretary. Industry practitioners complete the certification instead.

• Lodge the form with Land Services SA in person at Level 9, 101 Grenfell Street, Adelaide, or by registered post to GPO Box 543, Adelaide.
• Land Services SA states that no fee is charged to change the address on a certificate of title.
• Print in black on white A4 80 gsm paper, double sided. A Confirmation of Registration notice is provided once the change is registered.

• Every applicant must sign, and applicants cannot witness each other's signatures.
• If you are selling the property you do not need to register a change of address.
• Your address is shown in publicly searchable registers. If displaying it could put your safety at risk, you can apply to the Registrar-General for name search suppression.
